The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across East Lansing seeking CNC Machinists who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machinery (lathes, mills, grinders) according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code to determine machining operations. Monitor machine operations, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges). Load and unload parts, ensuring proper clamping and tooling. Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues or adjust offsets as needed. Recommended Qualifications Proven experience operating, setting up, and programming (editing) CNC milling and/or turning machines. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges. Strong understanding of tooling, machining processes, and various material properties. Ability to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot common operational issues. Adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards in a manufacturing environment. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM). Experience operating CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) or other advanced metrology equipment. Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills. Experience with 5-axis machining or exotic materials (e.g., titanium, Inconel).
