Job Description Job Description The Aerial Lineman is
responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial
telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic cable and
related hardware. This role involves working at heights on poles
and in bucket trucks to ensure safe, high-quality installations
while adhering to company and industry safety standards. Key
Responsibilities Install aerial fiber optic cable on existing
utility poles. Perform strand placement, lashing, clipping, and
over-lashing. Install anchors, guys, and other pole hardware.
Transfer existing communications lines as required. Safely operate
bucket trucks and climbing gear. Read and interpret construction
prints and work orders. Maintain proper clearances from power and
existing utilities. Perform pole transfers and mid-span splicing
prep (if applicable). Conduct daily vehicle and equipment
inspections. Maintain clean and organized job sites. Communicate
effectively with crew members and supervisors. Required
Qualifications 1–3 years of aerial telecom or utility line
experience. Experience working from bucket trucks and/or climbing
poles. Knowledge of strand construction and lashing procedures.
Understanding of NESC safety standards. Ability to work at heights
(25–50 feet). Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred). Ability to
lift 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work. Willingness to
travel (if applicable). Preferred Qualifications Fiber splicing
experience (a plus). Experience with pole transfers and make-ready
work. Traffic control certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
certification. Physical Requirements Work at heights for extended
periods. Frequent climbing, bending, lifting, and reaching.
Exposure to outdoor elements (heat, cold, wind, rain). Ability to
safely operate aerial lift equipment. Safety Expectations Maintain
a strong safety-first mindset at all times. Wear required PPE (hard
hat, safety glasses, harness, gloves, etc.). Conduct daily Job
Hazard Analysis (JHA). Maintain proper minimum approach distances
from energized lines. Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions
